To make citizenship harder to attain in Armenia, to abandon the diaspora completely seems like a countermeasure to anti-nationalism or even espionage - Turks, Azeris, and other nationalities somehow slipping through as Armenians to live there.

However, this is a global paranoia, only merited for specific cases of individuals who raise reasonable suspicion. It seems as though the effort to make citizenship harder and to abandon social and cultural support for diaspora abroad is a symptom of the greatest schizophrenia and paranoia.

So what, out of every thousand Armenians abroad in diaspora, you have 10 or 20 who are not Armenian. I’d rather catch the fish with a net and feed a village, than seek, with a fishing rod and single line in hand, the smallest ones, one by one.

Know this, if the political endeavor continues, the diaspora, over millions and millions, will vanish as distinctly Armenian in a generation and dissipate forever.

Mark my words as prophecy, it will vanish.
