Philosophical authenticity, as being oneself, in this regard, is not a virtue, nor is it desirable, for if we are bad or imperfect by nature, why be ourselves in the deepest manner as defined? And if it be a matter of personality, then it is not a matter of virtue but of style and congruence in certain instances - for being one’s own personality at all times is not possible or even proper, especially with those we first meet and in settings that require more etiquette, professionalism, and formality - leading to immodesty. It is not virtue to bombastically present our inner selves or personality to such people who don't care, it is brazen and self revealing unnecessarily - it leads nowhere. Rather, it is reserved for those we know well and those who are familiar with us.
