The ancient priesthood is a historic phenomena. Prior to the birth of Christ, the priesthood of Judaism offered sacrifices of animals and blood and rituals for the people’s sins in expiation of guilt. In the New Testament we see that there are apostles, there are martyrs, Christians, but no priests. No man who performs a ceremony every Sunday or so, doing little in his office in between, if he shows up throughout the week at all. What a petty picture.
