Even when life is so hard that it seems not worth living, we can acknowledge that we are aware of the challenge and can respond and act. Like Aragorn or Gandalf we stare the devil in the eye, the evils of the day, and when looking back in greeneries and lifted up in victorious unions and enthronements can smile with a joy that justifies the tale. We have lived a life worth living, a tale to be told, not an odd story of lethargy, failure, subnormality, and regret. And even if we lose, we know we have lost to a worthy opponent and die a martyr fighting to death! Who knows, it may have been you against the world.
