It seems that the idea of consciousness centering in a brain function or region of the brain is a threat to God or spirituality; however, the mind body duality was never the staple of belief in God until Rene Descartes and others, even Buddhists. Nevertheless, whether consciousness is a function of the brain or the regions within it or even not so has no effect on the beauty of this function itself. To be conscious is essential to human life but is not the core of existence in such a way that if it were attributed to physical phenomena, would disqualify such a deeply human experience of existence and matter of our special place in creation. Consciousness is the last frontier of the human mind, maybe even brain, by my concession, but not of God.
