Many have defined prophecy to be a message only of compliments or encouragement. This is somewhat how many confront the reality of hell: they say it does not exist and if it does, no one goes there. God willing!
Yet, prophecy is in fact a judgement upon a person, a people, the world. It is not for upbuilding as the modern scholarly definition would have us believe, though unbuilding is the result of the rooting out of sins. For judgement itself alone has deep, decisive, essential, and intrinsic value, the working of justice by God himself from the mouth of a prophet - like a hand hitting a table in anger, or the judgement of a judge with gavel and wood. It is deeper than the earth. He does not mind the end of mankind. His wrath justifies itself - needing no utilitarian philosophy to obstruct it for in God there is self sufficiency and no need for immoral defiling peoples. And any speech concerning the future glories and heavenly rewards are in the context of the sin being confronted, opposed, and judged.
