We are indebted to the country in which we are raised for drawing from its resources; however, when we draw constantly from the resources of other lands, not only in food, but also intellectually, we are indebted to those. Therefore the virtue of piety as defined by Thomas Aquinas demands that we give back. Not by remaining in the country in which we were raised, but by traveling to those places where we may return payment by love, by act, and by labor.
