It is possible, if only slightly so, that when Jesus was still fighting the Pharisees in word and in speech, he was trying to realize his own will rather than the Father’s. And in the end, in remembrance of his holy prayer that not my will but Thy will be done, he did not struggle but embraced the wounds and the humiliation. He endured even death for the sins of the world, for in love the Word became flesh and in love for us he gave himself for us on the tree.
