What would happen if I were to say that mindfulness is Christian teaching, to be watchful and to be at peace without anxiety, to guard the heart from major sins as Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount brings us to do. Do not clean the outside of the cup but the inside, so that watching your thoughts and guarding the heart, you may be pure outwardly as you are foremost inwardly.
Mindfulness means to be present to your mind rather than being carried away from it lost in thoughts that take us anywhere and everywhere else, and guarding the heart is not possible without this activity.
It is not merely watching, but doing so in peace, to be with God, as being present is the gate towards the sense of his being.
Mindfulness without marvel, is devoid of God and a form of focusing. Mindfulness with it, is the presence of God and a form of prayer.
