Martyrdom implies that one will die doing the right rather than the wrong, that doing so leads to death and not to life of luxury and security on earth. Along the road, there are blisses immeasurable; however, in the end, doing right is a crucifixion, this life leading to death in this world, but resurrection in the next.
The other option is death.
