Why are the rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness self evident, inalienable? It is based on the philosophy of the Greeks and also on Christianity. Man is made to be happy, therefore the right to pursuit happiness is similar to the right to be man. We are also made to be free, free to make choices and go where we wish to go, doing that which we wish to do. Man is made free, not being so would mean that we are not possessors of free will. And in being free, the granting of that freedom is granting man the right to exercise that natural freedom we possess. Lastly, man is a life, in that he is truly alive and that life being valuable to him makes this right as natural to the law as breathing is to the lungs.
