If you look and see, kindness is reserved for fellow Christians, not for one’s enemies, which demands a specific kind of love, the turning of one’s cheek, not the softening of one’s tone to the point of femininity. Every command is for the community, the fellowship of brothers, look and see. Love also, reserved for fellow Christians, takes a different form for those who are not. For example, do not be equally yoked with nonbelievers, do not share yourself with them. If love were the same across the board, then I could share my life and my inner self with all, however that is reserved for fellowship in the light, sins exposed and eradicated, not for relationships tinged and marred by outrageous sins of the flesh and of the mind unexposed to the light and unknown, unconfessed. So, let us do away with nice tones and softened speech, and do what is right, overcome evil with good, by feeding our enemies, praying, and staying far from them and their tortures. Let us in the words of Jesus Christ, wipe off the dust from our feet from those who do not receive us and our words. And let us imitate the Lord in bringing to light their sins as he himself as well as the Baptist has said, You brood of vipers!
