Humility is not the opposite of knowing who you are before God, your rank. Rather, it is not speaking of it with pride before others, rather proclaiming one’s status as a sinner, secretly communing with God.
Nor is it a project of knowing your worth either, a self-image virtue, for our rank is often never disclosed.
Humility is multi-faceted, its face multidirectional. It is the most undefined and misleadingly defined virtue. This is simply one face: humility before others is proclaiming oneself a sinner, revealing sins to God and no one else.
