It is the job of the Srpazan, the vartabed, with golden staff to defend the chastity and virginity of the youth, from demons, from hell, from men of violence, that when readied and matured men may take a bride, untouched and unscathed. To preach is primary, yet closely behind this call is the defense of the innocence and dignity of our youth. May all who carry this staff within their hand know its purpose, to defend the little one, the girls, the women, so that when seeking to topple the battle walls, thieves may face the might of heaven, the face of God, the sword of archangels, the swords of men.
When war strikes, may they know their call, and at the slightest sound and growl of wolves, strike decisively and swiftly.
Eagles scan for prey and strike, so Vartabeds must fly above the skies nearing God to expose and to catch the enemy of purity and holy matrimony, the Union of man and woman, to pass on the responsibility to the husband.
