It seems as though there are two existences. If not, and there be only one, then existence is God and God existence, making life, reality, existence itself not only good but supremely good. It is a reality, a life that beams forth in all direction from within the fabric of nature, stars, our very bodies.
However, if there be two in subsistence, not only in concept, there is the existence of God, which is divine, whose existence is his own being, and existence in general that is of creation, which is not divine. The second existence not being God or God’s existence must then be a created entity, despite it preceding all other created things, for all created things but this existence in general is contingent upon existence in general. If existence in general is created, and it is what is called life, not the divine Life of God as in Jesus Christ, but life as in the normal life we all live in, reality per se, but not the divine reality which is God, then it is very good, for God beheld all that he had made and said, “It is very good,” this good including existence in general, primal and preceding all other created things, still being a created entity nonetheless. Further, if God created life, existence in general, then it must be good apart from this verse, because God made it. Therefore in two ways, holding the existence of a God who is good by faith, we see that existence in general is in fact good.
Some may say that in this sense, existence in general may still be without quality or nature, being neutral, however, God, who created all things, existence in general included, creates by necessity of his own nature, being God even with only the most rudimentary attributes held in mind, with purpose. There being purpose to existence in general demands that it have a nature, for having a given purpose tied to its very existence, not added on by another or changeable by man or any other being, it also has a nature, this nature being good due to God’s purposes being good, especially for that which contains all that is, for it is the book within which all thoughts are contained, all letters written within, all sentences comprised, all characters and people and things ideated and composed. The book is a book, and it must be written well. The book is good, it is very good, and it ends well.
Lastly, if existence in general be not real, there being only one existence, God’s, then that which we call life or reality, is God’s existence, God himself. And this is beyond good, beyond being very good, infinite and unbound, a goodness that is supreme, a light that shines brighter than any other, and a love that is without measure and endless. And if so, life is not only good, bright, and filled with love, but infinite goodness, infinite light, and infinite love itself. What we call life would be every attribute of God, in fact, his essence and nature and existence.
Therefore, if this is so, do not go and tell all that life is good, merely good. Do not tell him, life is very good, merely very good. For this is not enough. Do not even tell all that life is infinitely good, but infinite goodness itself. Tell him that life is God! Tell him that Jesus Christ is life and life Jesus Christ! Not only this, but that life became man, God became a created being, Jesus Christ, uniting the cosmos and all creation to God in his very Person as Jesus Christ by becoming a created being as God, making way for a new created order with Jesus Christ's body as the mechanism through which all creation is renewed and made perfect.
In truth, the Apostle St. Paul writes, that in him, Jesus Christ, all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross. And the Apostle also writes concerning the mystery of the will of God as being a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, in Jesus Christ, things in heaven and things on earth. Aquinas also explains this phenomenon, writing that "this renewal was brought about in a special way through the Son, insofar as he himself was made man. After man’s state had been restored, he in a certain way renewed all things that were made on account of man."
And if existence in general be real, it is reliant upon God for its own existence, making it not infinitely good as God is, accessible and knowable, but good by participation, being something that dwells and is within God himself, its goodness being as the relation of a beautiful fountain flowing with water to the ocean or rain that comes from above - the waters being sourced in the ocean and flowing into fountains through rains and rivers that trickle and flow from mountains to our very mouths.
In the case that God exists and existence in general be a concept only, then life is as infinitely good as God. In the case that God exists and existence in general be a subsisting thing, not being a concept only, then life is very good, as good as the craftsmanship of the hands of God.
