Every family ought to have a rulebook, a constitution, to abide by. For in doing so, the family makes the law of God sensitive to the internal government of the family.

Just as every nation has a constitution, a codified law, so every family ought to have one too, lest the frailty, and ambiguity, and lack of sense of heads of household and family members become a barrier to the free flow of justice and love and mercy and the mechanism of resolution, unity, and reconciliation that may exist within family systems.
