I firmly believe that Socrates in the modern world would have been placed in an inpatient unit rather than a court of law due to the level of his sanity and intelligence. The greatest thinkers transcend norms and are deemed too far from them to be made standard as they require a level of clarity in thought that cannot be comprehended by the majority of the populace.
